Tattoo Questions Frequently Asked
Commonly asked questions about the tattoo process are addressed here!
Jakku Tattoo operates as a private studio, exclusively by appointment. We consider ourselves more of a tattoo collective rather than a traditional shop. Each artist manages their own business independently. Jakku Tattoo serves as a creative space. While walk-ins are occasionally accommodated, it’s rare when any of us can do so. I strongly recommend scheduling appointments for a smoother experience. You can ask me about your tattoo by filling out the tattoo contact form.

As a tattoo artist, I believe in fairness and transparency when it comes to pricing. My method aims to create a stress-free experience for clients while also considering their individual pain thresholds.
While I do generally estimate the duration of tattoo sessions (often the larger pieces are hard to guess), it’s important to note that these estimates are just that – guesses. If you have a specific budget in mind, we can discuss it during our consultation.
I accept cash or e-transfer as payment options.
You need 2-3 weeks between each appointment to allow the tattoo to heal.
As per Alberta Health policies, you need to be at least 18 years old to get a tattoo. Unfortunately, we cannot consider parental consent for minors. Additionally, our shop policy does not allow minors to be present. Thank you for your understanding.
During a consultation, I dedicate an hour to discussing design details with my clients. This session helps lay out the groundwork for the project. At this point, we decide whether to proceed by requestiong a deposit. Occasionally, if the design is particualrly extensive, I may suggest another consultation.
Usually, I complete the design right before the tattoo session. This approach helps me keep the design details fresh in my mind. During your first tattoo session, you’ll see the final version of the design. Most of the time, my clients are thrilled with the result, and we proceed with the tattooing process.
If during your initial tattoo session, you wish to make alterations to the design, I’ll make those changes while you’re present. Typically, these adjustments are minor and don’t require much time. It’s crucial that you feel completely confident about the design during the initial consultation to avoid significant modifications later on.
I’ve discovered that this streamlined process benefits both my clients and me. By skipping a separate drawing review, I can get clients in for their tattoo sessions more promptly. However, if you’ve already left a non-refundable deposit, you’re welcome to schedule another consultation to review the final design separately from your first tattoo appointment. Because of the extra hours spent getting it to final polish, should you choose to not go through with the tattoo, the deposit remains non-refundable.
If you have any additional questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. Feel free to get in touch if you need further clarification or have any other questions related to your tattoo session.
